One of the Serbia’s prominent human rights worker, Biljana Kovacevic Vuco, has died .She was about 58 years.
Biljana Kovacevic Vuco played a vital role in Serbia’s fledgling anti-war and human rights movement during the 1990s rule of late strongman Slobodan Miosevic, she died on Tuesday after going through a long illness, reported to be said by YUCOM, the group she led.
Serbia’s human rights organizations were one of the rare opposition voices in the former Yugoslavia against the ethnic bloodshed caused by Milosevic’s nationalism.
This lady, Kovacevic Vuco was also from a prominent critic of Milosevic’s autocratic policies at home. As a legal expert, she led YUCOM, which provide many legal assistance to the victims of abuse.
She left behind her two sons.
